It is my great pleasure to welcome you to this prestigious collaborative conference, jointly organized by the College of Anaesthesiologists of East, Central, and Southern Africa (CANECSA), the Kenya Society of Anaesthesiologists (KSA), and the Critical Care Society of Kenya (CCSK).
This conference represents a significant milestone in our shared commitment to advancing anaesthesia, critical care, and perioperative medicine. Through collaboration, knowledge exchange, and professional networking, we continue to strengthen our specialties and enhance patient care across the region.
I encourage all participants to engage actively in the discussions, presentations, and workshops, as we explore innovative solutions and best practices in our field. This platform not only fosters learning but also provides an opportunity to build lasting professional relationships that will drive progress in anaesthesia and critical care.

History of Kenya with CANECSA
Kenya is one of the 12 CANECSA constituent member countries. Kenya has been an active member country with the following activities been conducted
- Kenya has 3 Accredited Hospitals
- Kenya has a total of 8 Foundation fellows
- Kenya has a total of 18 Anaesthesiologists who are on training currently

Kenya Society of Anaesthesia was registered on the of 21st September 1994 under the societies act. Its operations are governed by a constitution which establishes a council and an Annual General Meeting (AGM). The society is affiliated with the International World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists (WFSA). We have 201 full members and 65 associate members.
Critical Care Society of Kenya is a medical society that was launched on the 30th November 2012. It was formed with the sole purpose of improving the quality of critical care in the country.
